Yona Metzger
Chief Rabbi of Israel, Ashkenazi
Born in Haifa in 1953, Rabbi Metzger served in the Israeli military before completing his rabbinical studies and working as a rabbi in Tel Aviv. In 2003 he was appointed to be Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi of Israel. He has promoted the idea of a "religious United Nations" to represent the religions of the world in a diplomatic way.
