Dr. Rowan Williams
Archbishop of Canterbury
Church of England
Born in Wales in 1950, Williams studied Theology at Cambridge and Oxford University and spent several years as an academic and author. Outspoken and liberal, Williams was once arrested in a protest at a nuclear weapons arsenal. In 1999 Williams was made the Archbishop of Wales where he served until he was enthroned as the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury in 2003, despite opponents declaring him "too liberal."
