As he begins his reign as CEO of Duque Rum, Alex quickly begins to move on two fronts: he must secure the hotly contested government subsidy for the new Duque ethanol refinery he's proposing, and he must convince his family that Pancho made the right choice in naming him CEO. The envious Frank, aided by his clandestine mistress, Ellis Samuels, does his best to undermine Alex's new position. To complicate matters, Miguel, one of the two men Alex paid to murder Quiñones, attempts to blackmail him. When Alex refuses to pay, Miguel reveals Quiñones' fate to the Duques' ruthless rival for the ethanol subsidy, Joe Samuels. When Samuels tries to force Alex to give up on his refinery plan by threatening to expose the Quiñones murder, an angry Alex moves Quiñones' body and has Miguel sent back to Cuba for good. Despite Samuels' best efforts, the subsidy is awarded to the Duques. Can Alex enjoy his victory, or will he remain haunted by his involvement in the Quiñones matter?
